Help improve the tools and the research
Every hideouts project is open source on GitHub. Useful contributions are specific, reproducible, and free of anyone’s personal data.
Ways to contribute
Report a bug
Open an issue with your macOS or iOS version and build, the steps to reproduce, and what you expected. Sanitized logs and screenshots help.
Send a pull request
Keep changes focused on one problem, explain the reasoning, and run the project’s own build and tests first. Read its contributing guide if it has one.
Improve the research
Corrections are welcome. Point to the artifact, log line, or public source that supports the change, and keep observation separate from interpretation.
Report a vulnerability privately
Security problems go through GitHub’s private vulnerability reporting, never a public issue. See the security page for the process.
Where to go for each project
Links come straight from each repository’s settings on GitHub.
Ground rules
Link to section: Ground rules- Never attach sensitive data to an issue or pull request: no credentials, private keys, device backups, pairing records, UDIDs, personal data, or unrestricted forensic evidence.
- Stay within authorized use. Test on devices you own or are allowed to examine. Contributions that bypass Apple’s protections, jailbreak devices, or target other people’s data won’t be accepted.
- Keep claims evidence-based. Describe what you observed and how, and label interpretation as interpretation.
- Be respectful. Where a project has a code of conduct, it applies to every issue, discussion, and review.
By contributing, you agree that your work is released under the license of the project you contribute to. Every project’s license is shown on its page.
